Is that this the norm for elite 2?

Received a elite 2 as a present from the spouse. Used it for a couple of months earlier than the left stick began to float.

I put it again in its authentic packaging. Now a 12 months later I see how the rubber are wanting its grip on the controller.

I do know that drift is an acknowledged downside, but in addition this? Or was I simply handled a nasty product?

Ps. The controller has been in its authentic case for a 12 months.
