As a lot as I really like Steam, I do want they allow us to personal the video games that we bought. At present, we technically solely buy licenses to play the video games we purchase, not really proudly owning a duplicate. Whereas uncommon, these licenses might be revoked at any time. That’s really why I like GOG. The storefront is probably not as fashionable, and it doesn’t have all of the options Steam has, nevertheless it offers us DRM-free copies of the video games we purchase. This implies we really personal a duplicate of the sport that doesn’t require any third-party software program to play. GOG has been bringing in numerous new video games by way of its preservation program, and lately added two extra from Xbox.
Lately, each Ghostwire: Tokyo and the unique Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY Version have each been added to the GOG retailer by way of their preservation program. Which means each video games will be bought on the shop proper now, and also you’ll get a DRM-free copy that lets you play without having some other launcher or Web requirement. You personal the copies of those video games; that’s that.
On prime of that, they’ve launched them on the shop for 75% off every, bringing Oblivion right down to $4.99 and Ghostwire right down to $14.99. The sale lasts till the twenty sixth, so there’s nonetheless a while to select it up earlier than the value goes again up.
And sure, each of those video games are playable on the Steam Deck. Oblivion runs like a appeal, and whereas Ghostwire does want some compromises, it’s additionally fairly satisfying on the Deck. Nonetheless, each of the video games must be satisfying on the Deck regardless, and with Oblivion becoming a member of, we now have the 5 Elder Scrolls video games all on GOG. It feels good to have the ability to full the collection and get all of the video games with none DRM connected.
I can’t wait to see what different video games will probably be becoming a member of the GOG preservation program subsequent, and it has been a pleasure to see Sq. Enix and Xbox embrace it as a lot as they’ve.
