I couldn’t be extra excited for the upcoming {hardware} from Valve. The Steam Controller seems unbelievable, and I couldn’t be extra excited for each the Steam Body and Steam Machine. Just lately, there was a variety of motion within the {hardware} house, with the controller formally being introduced and launched in three days. However it looks as if Valve isn’t slowing down one bit.
Forward of the announcement for the Steam Controller, and dropped at our consideration by Brad Lynch on Twitter/X, delivery knowledge confirmed Valve getting a cargo for “Wi-fi Controllers”, which gave us a heads up that they had been getting ready for one thing massive. their delivery manifest, it appears as if one thing else could also be brewing as a result of they’ve been getting a number of shipments of “Sport Consoles” for the previous month.
Now the plain conclusion may very well be that they’re stocking up on the Steam Machine for an announcement quickly. Whereas I do hope that is the case, I imagine there are different, extra plausible, conclusions. The Steam Machine just isn’t a “Sport Console”, and I’m unsure it could be categorized as such for delivery particulars. The extra probably case would in all probability be stocking again up on Steam Decks, and even the Steam Body.
It’s additionally very attainable that Valve is simply stocking up for when they will be able to announce. I’ve little doubt that they’ve been working exhausting behind the scenes to choose a value level for the Steam Machine, so even when the shipments are in regards to the Machine, I wouldn’t say it’s an indicator that we’ll be listening to something quickly. After all, it doesn’t imply I don’t have hope, however I do discover it exhausting to imagine that that is an indicator of something being introduced quickly. The shipments have been taking place all through the center of March, and there haven’t been any massive indicators of one thing else brewing for these gadgets, in contrast to what occurred with the Steam Controller.
Nonetheless, I’ll proceed hoping as a result of I can’t await both of those new items of tech.
