I’ve spent years questioning whether or not we’ll ever get a correct Star Wars Battlefront 3, and now two separate rumors have me dusting off my outdated blaster. First, a report suggests Disney is on the lookout for a studio to tackle the long-awaited subsequent entry. Now, the CEO of Wardogs developer Bulkhead Video games claims that EA Cube and Respawn Leisure are engaged on it.
Joe Brammer claims in a current social media put up that “[EA] Cube and, from what I’ve heard, Respawn are engaged on [Star Wars] Battlefront 3.” He provides that, if we assume this to be true, he is “undecided what meaning for Battlefield.” Brammer does not elaborate on his supply, and neither EA nor Lucasfilm has confirmed a brand new Star Wars Battlefront recreation. At the least not but.
It follows a report from GiantBomb’s Jeff Grubb, who revealed a rumor from the upcoming challenge of Digital Gaming Month-to-month. The journal’s mysterious Quarterman tipster claims Lucasfilm has been looking for a developer to make a brand new Battlefront recreation, with EA Cube the plain candidate, having labored on the earlier instalment. Nevertheless, there’s one other identify within the combine.
“The Qman hears that if the Power shouldn’t be entrusted to [EA] Cube, it may land at none apart from Halo, Future, and Marathon developer Bungie,” the report reads. Grubb provides that the sport does not seem like in energetic improvement but, however conversations about which studio ought to deal with it are supposedly happening. Brammer’s declare paints a barely totally different image, suggesting each EA Cube and Respawn may very well be concerned.
There’s additionally the Battlefield-shaped elephant within the room. EA Cube is presently supporting Battlefield 6, whereas Respawn has different tasks to juggle. EA’s unique Star Wars licensing deal resulted in 2023, so a brand new Star Wars recreation is not out of the query. However till somebody makes an official announcement, we’ll need to accept rumors and hope this one does not find yourself frozen in carbonite.
