I really like 4X technique video games; they’re certainly one of my favourite forms of technique video games and produce me probably the most pleasure. Sid Meier’s Civilization is well my favourite, with Civilization 5 being my private favourite, however after enjoying Civilization 7 at Gamescom, I might simply see it being my new favourite. And in the present day, developer Firaxis and writer 2K Video games have launched the PC necessities for the sport, and it seems like it is going to run on the Steam Deck.

Earlier in the present day, the Civilization Twitter/X account posted the spec necessities for the sport on Home windows. And whereas it seems a bit beefy for the Extremely settings, the minimal does seem to be it might stick across the Deck’s energy:

On high of that, they talked about that also they are releasing a Mac and Linux/SteamOS model with specs that can come quickly:

That is going to be a really distinctive launch, since that is the primary Civilization sport releasing on consoles with controller assist, which may very well be superb for playability on the Steam Deck. I additionally really feel a bit extra assured for the reason that official account does point out SteamOS, and whereas it does say that on the backside of retailer pages on Steam, there isn’t any different gadget that makes use of SteamOS aside from the Deck.

I’m particularly hopeful that the Linux model will probably be very Steam Deck suitable. Primarily based on the Home windows minimal, it’s inside cause for CPU, GPU, and RAM, and with the minimal decision being examined at 1080p, it ought to be rather less for the Deck’s decision of 800p. All of this makes me very hopeful that it will likely be first rate on the Deck and an gratifying expertise.

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 will be pre-purchased on Steam for $69.99 forward of its February eleventh, 2025 launch date.
